BHIKHARI THAKUR : The 100th year of His Repetory: A model for Indian Theatre Model

Bhikhari Thakur is a name which is sung by reknowned singers of traditional and modern gener. Characters of his plays are very dear to modern theatre practitioners. His own repertory artists are acting his plays, all of his plays on diverse subjects related to migration, the left young married woman struggle from the society and the system, the politics of village, caste and hatred politics. He wrote the voices of the earth, th mother, the woman, the adlocent generation, against the liquore habit, the child marriage. He plays are composed with the bhojpuri cultural elements and his repertory is the orchard of colorful bhojpuria society which has a mother tongue, own identity, own pain and style. Bhikharin thakur plays provides a broad range of bhojpuria exdpressions which are the matter of pride for the society. It counters the degareading politics of commercial art like cinema which presents bhojpuria elements as an item.
National Academy of Music Dance and Drama organised a festival from 25th December to 29th December 2017 at the birthplace of Bhikhari Thakur : Kutubpur and at Chhapra : Rajendra Stadium. The invited the artists from all over India mainly from Bihar, UP and Delhi to present their singing, acts and expressions based, originated, inspired from Bhikhari Thakur.
About 400 artists participated in this festival.
The festival Venues were decorated meaningfully from the expressions of Bhuneshwar Bhaskar who is on of the leading contemporary painter who draws his inspiration from the roots and pitcher is a permanent part of his expressions which he presents in a very new, innovative and creative way to express the contemporary feelings of his own and the society. He is a prolific writer on culture and the visual arts. He has collected about 100 of villge games the Bhojpuria society plays in the village.
